Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 603 - Kingwood, Texas

Cub Scout Pack 603 formed in 1980 (originally as Pack 3603) to serve the Bear Branch community in Kingwood, TX.  Annual Pack 603 adventures include camping, fishing, Pinewood Derby and launching rockets plus much, much more.  Our program serves boys in grades Kindergarten (Lions) through 5th grade (Webelos).  If you like outdoor adventure, Pack 603 is for you!

Chartered by the Bear Branch Elementary PTA, our goals have remained constant over the years:  character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. We are an active, family-oriented organization. Come be part of the adventure!

Hello, Pack 603!

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. First off, let me just say that though we are going through unprecedented times, scouting will continue! Our scouting program will adhere to the guidelines we have received from the Sam Houston Area Council, as well as the guidelines from the State of Texas and the CDC. For more information, please visit this link: https://www.samhoustonbsa.org/10-shac-communication-for-covid-19-response-2020-07-27-1.

We have a lot of fun activities, both virtual and in-person, planned for the upcoming year:

• We are kicking off our Pack events this year with our Cub Scout Bike Parade and Kona Ice Social(ly Distanced) on Sunday, Aug. 23 from 3-5pm at Bear Branch Gazebo Park! Please RSVP at the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e45a4a928abfe3-rsvp.
• Our first Pack meeting of the year will be Saturday, Sep. 12 at 3pm at the playing fields next to Bear Branch Elementary and we will break into appropriately sized groups and make…catapults!
• The first camp out of the year will take place Sep. 25-27 at Lake Houston Wilderness Park. Due to COVID guidelines, the limit will be 30 people instead of the usual 50. We will let you know when sign up is available.

As per the COVID guidelines, we will keep in-person meetings as socially distanced as possible. I know this can be difficult with kids, but as the Cub Scout motto says “Do your best!” Also, please have scouts and adults wear masks to all in-person events for the foreseeable future. We will limit Den meetings to 10 scouts, and for those Dens that have more, such as my Bears, we will split into “A” and “B” groups. We will also split into groups and socially distance at any Pack gatherings, such as Pack meetings and camp outs.

Please visit our Facebook page (Kingwood Cub Scout Pack 603), and our website https://www.kingwoodpack603.com/ for the latest updates! I have attached the Facebook information and opt out form to this email. Please read over it when you have an opportunity.

Also, please be sure and sign up for a Scoutbook account at www.scoutbook.com if you do not already have one. You can keep track of your scout’s progress, and we are starting to use Scoutbook more and more as a communication tool.

If anyone has any questions or needs to reach me, feel free to email me or call my cell phone listed below. We are looking forward to a great year of scouting!
